Toys of today so glittery and glamorous

Packaged in plastic and color, whispering to young minds

“Come inside and play…”

 

Such large colors to contain such small inanimate things.

though, price tags seem to reflect of finer dreams…

 

Aisle after aisle, even hundreds of computer screens

Advertising and showing, toys, and toys, and toys

for a child to scheme.

 

A boy, a young man without much means

breaking more than most could fathom

found his pleasures in more simple things.

 

Rubber bands.

Card board boxes.

Sticks.

Tiny springs and other parts from taken-apart-machines…

 

Older now, this boy who dreams

thinking of toys and things

and remembering just how much fun there was

and is

playing with string.
