Energy expended with actions begetting actions
Spinning wool from a fleece covered in shit, when finished, warm and clean
a sweater
Grinding grain with stone and mortar, shelling the remnants left from a locust feast
Separating chaff, grit, dirt
celebrating with warm bread covered in butter
Punch another in the face, spouting the power of hate
Kick a dog to the curb
Spank a crying baby
People with ‘power’; politicians, clergy, union boss, you, me…
using mouth and brain
fingers to curl into fist for release
You see, so easy to take the hardness of nature and making it pleasing, comforting, delicious…
yet
so obvious to see a smile lead only to hate and deceit
as the circle of the mouth shows the lies inside
…
it would be better to be alone with bread and butter, a sweater, some music, cold water,
in the comfort of a cave.
