Inspired by a simple swim. Not many people but one family had two boys which definitely provided inspiration.

Boy In Green

Working along in play, as if a spider clinging to a wall
he stopped when reaching
the pipe filled hot.

Laughing, he reasoned a path best reached by crawling out, walked around
talking
looking down and then…

Standing there in a green swimsuit three sizes too big
yet more than filling his overflowing, imaginative, mind,
so with questions, I began.

“So, you can hold your breath underwater? How long?”
SPLASH!
He showed the world he can
Head underwater without any bubbles
and then…
gasping and laughing…
He said, “You want me to do that again?”

Of course, he showed the world there was more as he now dove feet first to reach the bottom
over-his-head
Failure
and then failure
and then
success.

Had a toy boat that floated and sank
asked me, “Wanna play with it?”
Laughing, I said no, I’d rather watch him show the world
that he can.

Talked about him and his older brother and learned
They lived in Lucille, plumbing family, and fun
His room was smaller while his bigger brother had more
though
no comic books, or video games
instead
antiques such as a cross-cut saw, and pictures, and books…

Yes, so very inspirational, with a slice, a sliver of hope for the future
of mankind
a small boy wearing green shorts with a large heart filled with gold.
