‘A dog is man’s best friend!’

How true.

Recently a man I know purchased a female black lab puppy aged 7 weeks. What a wonderful use of money as there is another saying, ‘money cannot buy happiness’ a saying that may be true for poets and fruitcakes but in the real world this world embraces… money can buy happiness, and Koda, the black lab puppy, is proof.

Now, the man that purchased this bundle of energy, is a chaotic man. One who follows his sexual urges and impulses. No different really than anyone else, but since I make a practice of studying such creatures as  humans, his situation is very intriguing.

For mankind, it really boils down to self needs and choices. Some handle the self needs and choices in a very conservative manner and on the other end of the spectrum, some are totally out of control.

Today, Koda was visiting the jobsite. Such energy. Such fun. And while visiting, another dog visited. A Rhodesian Ridgeback. An adult male still wearing his balls.

Upon visiting the male peed on the cage where Koda was sleeping. Even after being yelled at by various people, the dog still peed two more times on the cage holding Koda. A full, robust and strong spray of urine. Poor Koda cowered and endured the male intrusion.

Gross? Offensive? Only to those who choose to be. For me, an interesting perspective on the world of man/man, dog/dog. So very much the same yet so very much different.

Male and female humans thrive on pheromones, language, looks and other simple and complex ‘mumbo jumbo’. Male and female dogs thrive on smells, and inbred social canine conditioning. Both species torment the shit out of their own kind.

Today, the interactions between the owner (male human) and Koda (puppy) was sincere, real, obvious, and wonderful. Both held each other on bonds much stronger than any sexual partners the man could want or desire. Koda was totally responsive and ‘loving’ to her human companion.

In the dog world, it truly is ‘dog eat dog’. In the human world, it truly is a cruel, hostile place. Yet, when man and dog are combined, a true friendship is made. A bond that cannot be made between dog and dog or human and human.

So, yes, it is true. A dog is truly mans best friend, AND, a man is truly a dogs best friend.
