Cottonwood tree’s are a wonderful tree. They are vibrant green and grow to great stature. Their wood can be turned into lumber that is excellent for decking material on lowboys. Lumber that is tough and spongy. Though, as building material, it can be a bit hard to work with.

Today, coming back from grading for 14 hours, the setting sun highlighted a majestic specimen of cottonwood. The name for the tree comes from the seeds they release in the Spring. A small, tiny seed contained inside a puffy ball of ‘cotton’.

As the sun was set to set behind the hills, the still air was full of floating cotton. The way the light highlighted the cotton and tree, along with the many wild rose bushes… Truly wonderful and the best thing to happen today.

Of course, inspirational as only inspiration can be.

Floating army of what contains no potential for violence

No hate or angry

Nothing sinister or mean.

Adrift and flowing with only a slight breeze

Enough to give a perceived movent

to something so light.

So vast in space around the tree

Stretching out to the horizon before and after me

Reaching out to the closest

and then remembering the seed is on a journey

Smiling in the midst of an army

as they all floated away.
